Boardwalk Babes

009 - Copy

Another day trip with grandma was a trip to Myrtle Beach, since we were dropping her off at the airport in the evening. We spend the afternoon at Broadway at the Beach, where we bought the Big One a Build-A-Dino, since he’d been pining after the Little One’s dinosaur.

Egg Huntsmen

  051 (2) 064 - Copy

Hunting eggs at the local kids museum was a treat. The museum sets up special times for different age groups, so that the boys weren’t competing with older kids; they were able to find plenty of eggs! In addition, the boys got to spend a few hours at the museum with their cousins and burn off plenty of energy.

Florida Family Time

In the beginning of March, the boys (along with their Momma and Daddy) went to visit Mimi and Papa Strat (and their aunts and uncle). Since Mimi lives in a campground, the boys had lots of adventures. The Big One tried climbing a tree.

He didn’t get very far, but he sure did try:

The boys spent time with their 11 year old aunt, who is full of fun. They took walks in the woods with Daddy, and played in the pool on site. They visited another uncle (this one’s on Daddy’s side) and their soon to be aunt, and took them to the free Florida History museum.

The little one learned to climb bunk bed ladders, and somehow lost all coordination and ended up with cuts, bruises, and even a black eye. However, at the end of the week, he got a fancy haircut and made the final leap from babyhood to toddler hood.

Guys Night Out

DSCF4268

Momma wasn’t around here, so there is no confirmation of this frame, although it’s obviously ending in a strike! Daddy and his boy went bowling with some other men from church (some of whom also had children). What a nice, wholesome male bonding experience!

Mean Daddy

Harper desperately wanted the berries, despite having spilled the bucket multiple times.

The Boy is quite mad here – Daddy won’t share the bucket of blueberries! Never mind that every time the Boy got a hold of the bucket, he spilled berries all over the ground, and what he didn’t spill, he shoved into his mouth by handfuls. Such a mean, mean Daddy.

A Birthday Party

Birthday 011  Birthday 021Birthday 034  Birthday 044Birthday 049

Though this post is a month overdue, it’s fun to see how exhausted the Boy was at the end of his second birthday party! Daddy grilled, Momma decorated, Erin chased the Boy, the Boy chased ducks, and all sorts of family friends came to celebrate with us!

It was a lovely day with lovely people and one amazing not-so-little boy.

Like Father, Like Son

You'd think he'd electrocuted himself, looking at his hair!

The Boy seems to have development the same love of small electronics that his Daddy has. Plugging and unplugging the component video cables (yes, I had to ask for their official name) was a favorite task of the Boy, until we rearranged the game system to reduce their temptation!

But seriously, the best part of this picture is his hair!

Swing Time

Playground - T&H swingsThe Boy is a bit of a swing fanatic. He stays on longer than seems possible (at least, possible without nausea). Swing time is even more fun when Daddy’s being silly!

A Southern Snowman

snow 018

A rare treat in Wilmington – snowfall significant enough to build the Boy’s first snowman.  The Boy and his Daddy played outside for a few minutes, building a tiny snowman, throwing snowballs, eating snow and doing other typical winter activities.

The Boy was chilly, but happy. Maybe he’ll like snow as much as his Daddy.

The Big Wide World

The Boy exploring the Big Mall where Daddy works. He found his way out of JC Penney, through the mall, to the decorative mall provided strollers. Nothing can stop him now!

Notre Dame v Perdue

first win
On Saturday, September 4, Daddy made sure that Momma dressed the Boy in his Notre Dame jersey. He also tried to convince Momma that the Boy should watch the game until he got out of work, but Momma and the Boy went to the park instead.
But if it’s any consolation, Notre Dame won. Momma is just sure that it had everything do with with Daddy and the Boy sporting their jerseys.

Crumblino

009

During Daddy’s first class of the new semester, the Boy and Momma took a walk downtown for a cup of coffee and a muffin. The Boy loves banana nut muffins. I was slightly concerned to bring him outside – I was worried he’d be pigeon bait!

Meanest Momma in the World

016

The Boy is quite convinced that he has the meanest momma and daddy in all the world. Momma is does not ley ukmkn,  .; /; <--- this is the Boy telling you his woes first hand, which loosely translates to “let me eat cherry pits I find on the ground.” Momma also doesn’t let him stand up in his high chair, eat trash on the beach, or drink Diet Mountain Dew.
Daddy is just as bad. He doesn’t let the Boy play on the laptop, escape out the door while Momma’s headed to work,  or climb onto tables.
In public, he is sweet as a button. But at home, he is sure to show his displeasure at not being able to do whatever he wants, with an ear piercing people-are-going-to-think-you-are-cutting-off-my-foot-with-a-rusty-saw shriek followed by this face:
