A Birthday Weekend!

Erin came to visit the Big One for his birthday. We went to the beach, he got to play his very first arcade games, we had pizza and sno-cones.

After a nice long nap, we opened presents. Erin had made the most awesomest crocheted Thomas the Tank Engine! The Big One also got a very cool personalized book in which he stars as an engineer.

The coolest stuffed

Lastly, we had a nice night of card playing before Erin had to go home the next day. What a nice trip!

Tunnel

A makeshift "tunnel" in the absence of a real train tunnel.

After the family visit to Erin’s, the Boy has been obsessed with tunnels. And has been creative enough to devise his own makeshift tunnel to satisfy his desires!

Tracktastic

Harper building a train track

While he has not yet perfect the art of a completed circuit, the Boy has mastered connecting tracks end to end. He runs the trains up and down for hours. We’re hoping to get more, and fancier, tracks to stimulate his creativity further.

A Boy and His Trains

Harper devoted to his trains!

The Boy is obsessed with trains. Ideally, all trains should be of the Thomas variety, but in their absence, classic wooden trains are just as magnificent. (Even better are Thomas trains that work WITH wooden trains, but we don’t have any of those). Here you can see the boy playing with the train tracks Erin has for when small children (especially the adorable little offspring of close friends) come to visit. He spent all weekend playing with those trains!

Too cool for safari!

Once Harper opening his brand new train set on Christmas Day, he couldn’t be talked into opening anything else!

Thank you Poppy and Gumbo!

Playground Playtime

013
Before a Sunday School teachers meeting, Momma and Daddy took the Boy to play at the church’s preschool playground. The wooden train provided endless entertainment.

This photo makes Momma think of The Jungle Book. She hasn’t seen the movie in long enough to remember why…

One of the Boy’s favorite playground pastimes is to climb slides, regardless of height. This nice short slide is just perfect for little boys to climb.
