Preschool: Week 2-3

 

So for week 2, which ended up being weeks 2 AND 3, due to several days of both Momma and the boys being sick, is the letter:

 

 

Letter A!

 

I don’t have any pictures of the Big One drawing the letter A, because he never quite mastered it. Not that it’s important for him to do so at age 3, but we had a lot of other fun. While we discussed letter A, we also discussed Animals, and their habitats. So we had a little household scavenger hunt.

 

First, we spent the week reading several books about animals and where they live. Then one night, after he went to bed, I set up the house:

 

 

Taking animals from his playroom, I set up like type animals from the savannah, the desert, farmyard animals, water animals and flying animals, complete with props. The next morning (a Saturday), we went all around the house, seeking out the animal habitats, and collecting the animals in a bucket:

 

 

Once we had collected the animals in a bucket, I had him re-sort the animals on the dining room table and talk about where each of the animals live. And then he put them all back in their proper places. We had great fun!

 

A Rainy Day for a Birthday

Momma took half a day off, like she did last year, to take the Big One out for birthday fun. We decided to go to the aquarium, and were a few minutes early. We stopped at an area look out to take pictures in the rain.

 

 

At the aquarium, Momma did her best to allow the Big One to explore and play. Some guidance was needed, but Momma got quite the workout going back and forth, upstairs and downstairs. We explored the open air exhibit, with turtles and alligators and little birds to chase. He examined the sea turtle collected from a sea turtle nest nearby, touched the horseshoe crabs, watched the rays, and ran and ran and ran.

 

 

Momma and the Big One tried to go on a boat ride but the ferry was having mechanical issues. So instead we came home and had a tasty lunch of cheese(turkey)burgers and macaroni cheese. Later that night we celebrated officially with a Jell O cake with a candle that the Big One blew out all by himself after NOT crying during the Happy Birthday song for the first time ever!

 

Baskets! – Easter Part IV

 

 

The boys are “opening” their baskets. We don’t do big, fancy, extravagant things, but a few toys and other useful items. The big hit of the Big One's bucket were the 35-cent plastic animals I found in the party favor section.

 

The Little One likes his new rattle, but isn’t too keen on the sippy cup. We may need to wait a month or so for that…

 

Nomming on Noah’s Ark

 

The boys got a Fisher Price Noah’s Ark for Christmas. The Little One got a taste of what appears to be a leopard. Despite appearances, he’s definitely turning out to be another blond!

A Birthday Party

 

   

 

Though this post is a month overdue, it’s fun to see how exhausted the Boy was at the end of his second birthday party! Daddy grilled, Momma decorated, Erin chased the Boy, the Boy chased ducks, and all sorts of family friends came to celebrate with us!

It was a lovely day with lovely people and one amazing not-so-little boy.

Pint Sized Farm Boy

The Boy discovered the joys of fall and farms on Saturday. Momma really wishes there were an apple farm near by; fall just isn’t the same without picking apples. So the family settled for a local farm, filled with chickens, goats, horses and pigs. Tall corn stalks, tractors, and pumpkins to play with. Here, the Boy is in a teepee (or possibly wigwam, I’m not really up on my dried corn husk housing).

Judging by his laughter and big smiles, the Boy’s favorite part of the farm was right here.

Barbara Manatee…

… You are the one for me!!

Mimi and Papa Strat took the Boy, Momma and Daddy to Homosassa State Park, which sounds suspiciously like “Home Assassin State Park” if you aren’t familiar with the area. The Boy saw manatees, a hippo, jumping fish, pink birds, bald eagles, and all other native Florida wildlife.

He also saw non-native wildlife, which was eagerly trying to escape:
