Egg Huntsmen

Hunting eggs at the local kids museum was a treat. The museum sets up special times for different age groups, so that the boys weren’t competing with older kids; they were able to find plenty of eggs! In addition, the boys got to spend a few hours at the museum with their cousins and burn off plenty of energy.

Venus Baby Trap!

Nom Nom Nom

The Little One is enjoying  himself at the Cape Fear Museum. Apparently, Venus Fly Traps are native to our area (a very small area), so there is a small, interactive exhibit where you can throw bean bags into the fly trap’s mouth and make the trap gobble it up. It did not gobble up the little boy (although the big one tried!).

A Saturday in Southport

Southport is just a ferry ride away from Pleasure Island. We brought the Big One to satisfy his boat interest. We met up with family friends who live nearby to Southport and they showed up around town and we all enjoyed a wonderful lunch together.

We met our friends at a local park, right on the waterfront. While we waited we swung together and enjoyed the view. Once we met up, we walked through downtown, a short distance filled with all sorts of fun little shops, including a fantastic toy store, at which we bought little pirate toys (fashioned like the old school toy soldiers) that the Big One has played with for weeks.

We even found a small museum full of information about the local maritime tradition. Apparently, “Frying Pan” is a common name around here for boats and other locals. While at the museum, the Little One passed out in the wagon, while his friend slept in the stroller.

After a wonderful lunch of local seafood, we returned to the park to pick the van. My boys, my family, had a wonderful time.

Water Boys

The Boys playing on the Water Table

The Little One gets some playtime in at the Charlotte kid’s museum (technically it’s in a suburb of Charlotte, but he doesn’t care). Daddy took them out while Momma and Erin went to IKEA. A good day was had by all!

Makin’ Music

Corbin trying out the maracas

The Little One is enjoying his maracas at the Children’s Museum. He doesn’t get too much out of it yet, other than amazing visual and aural simulation, and the occasional toy to put in his mouth.

Groceries

Given a choice, this is what Harper would buy.

Apparently, this is what the Boy would buy, given the option. I’m glad to see it’s mostly vegetables, although that is an awful lot of onions!

TWO!

He loves the cupcake (once the initial breakdown ended!)

The Boy celebrated his birthday twice – once on his actual birthday, with a trip to the the Children’s Museum of Wilmington, a cupcake, and family presents and then again that weekend with a birthday party.
He is the big, official TWO and has the attitude to match. But he also has the curiosity, joy, love, and talents and watching him learn so fast is amazing. He’ll say words that make Momma and Daddy turn to each other and say “Did you teach him that?”

TWO is turning out to be just as fun as ONE.
